The End of the Year is a Great Time to Reach Out

Transcript:

Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of After The License the podcast where we help real estate agents build their business. I’m your host, Jeffrey Buettner. As always, you can catch us on afterthelicense.com. You can also check us out anywhere where you get podcasts, please like and subscribe, comment, do all those things, it really helps the show. So today, I want to talk about how you can use the end of the year as a way to get in front of your database, your sphere of influence. So often in real estate, agents kind of take the last month, month and a half off from basically Thanksgiving, till the end of the year. They left you know, kind of leave their foot off the gas pedal, and kind of coast because people are taking time off, and maybe it’s not as busy or whatever that looks like, but now is a great time to reconnect with people who know you, like you, and trust you, right? Hopefully, you have those people on a list in an Excel spreadsheet somewhere, you know, we call it your database, your sphere of influence. Well, the holidays is a great time to reach out to those people, and you can even do it several times. You can do it for Thanksgiving, you can do it for the new year, you can do it for whatever holiday you celebrate. If you have a end of the year card or a holiday card that your family sends out, you can send that to your database or your sphere of influence. Sometimes those lists are the same thing. And so that’s great. If you’re brand new to real estate, that holiday card can be a great way to tell people you’re in real estate. “Hey, this is what we’ve been up to the last year. You know, Bobby’s in sixth grade learning from home via zoom. Oh, by the way, I made a career shift. And I’m now in real estate. So if there’s anything I can help out with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.” Another thing you can do separate from the things you’re already doing, like holiday cards, is you can take the end of the year to do handwritten cards to your database, to your sphere of influence. “Hey, Susie, end of the year thinking about you and the family hope all is well, hope you had an okay 2020 with all the craziness going on. If there’s anything I can do to help just so you know I just transferred and took up a new career in real estate. If there’s anything I can help out with please let me know I’m hoping to make 2021 the best year of my career.” Whatever that looks like right? Handwritten notes at the end of the year during the holidays are fantastic. And additionally, handwritten notes are a great way to reach out to people you know and tell them you’re in real estate, right? It’s personal, it means something to them. If they see they got a handwritten note, it gives them kind of the nice, warm, fuzzy feelings. So those are really the two key things. Use the holidays as a way to reconnect with people that maybe you haven’t touched base with a ton over the last year. And just keep it casual. Ask them how they’re doing. Talk about the holidays. And you can slip in that you made a career change this past year and that you just are in real estate. And then also, don’t hesitate to use this time if you have some downtime, to lead generate, reach out to people and consider doing handwritten cards. Because again, we’re in that time of year where everyone is thinking about friends and family and have some warm, fuzzy feelings. And anyone who receives kind of a handwritten card from you is going to think fondly of you for the entire year. So use the holidays to your benefit. Don’t take your foot off the gas pedal and continue to reach out to people and continue to provide value and it’s going to really help you out for the next year. Guys. I hope this was helpful. As always, please Like and Subscribe. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll catch you next time.
